Our Story began with our love of flowers thriving in contrast to the concrete jungle of New York City. With new building developments continuing but also a lack of funding for dwindling green spaces, we wanted to make the city beautiful for everyone!
But then we saw a bigger vision and need for Black Americans to see themselves thriving in urban farming and to connect us back to the earth and our generational ties to growing for self-sufficiency.

We strive to center our business service and products around the communities we share our ecosystem with. That's why, Mother Sol understands deeply the challenges of urban farming and lack of culturally relevant growing practices.
Most people become discouraged trying year after year of failed pepper plants, skimpy rosemary, forgotten progated scallions. But you are almost there!
Every plant needs a caretaker (aka plant parent), and with our help we can find the right seeds, growing conditions, and sustainable practices right for you. Our mission is to heal the connection between humans and their natural environment and change the perceptions of growing expectations and transform that into actions of self-love and stewardship.
